Elsa Stansfield
Elsa Stansfield was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1945.
From 1962 to 1965 she was a student at the Glasgow School of Art,
from 1965 to 1967 at the Ealing School of Art & Design in London, where she concentrated on photography and film.
In 1967 she produced her first experimental films.
She was in London at the Slade School of Art (U.C.L.) department of Film Studies from 1967 to 1969.
In 1969 and 1970 she journeyed to India.
She has been working with Madelon Hooykaas in London and Amsterdam since 1972.
In 1975 she started working with video environments with Ms. Hooykaas.
She has been the head of the audio-visual department of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, Holland since 1980.

She lives and works in Amsterdam and the U.S.A.
